In order to meet the requirements of the chosen brief I will use the four areas of the media theoretical framework (representation, language, industries, and audiences) that will contribute to the communication of meaning. Media language and Representation Research In this post I’m going to be analysing the media language and representation of magazines and how its used to appeal to an intended audience, this is in order to highlight the codes and conventions used in a similar product to my chosen brief and apply them to mine to help produce an effective media product. Layout: is minimal text and majority image Typography: bold masthead ( VOGUE )- white- popular brand- stands out so that people will be attracted to it. Black heading ( REBEL! )- capital locks- exclamation- to emphasise the truth of the statement. Colour coordination. Accent red text ( RIHANNA REWRITES THE RULES ) red- connotes danger, panic, alert Use of language: the use of the word REBEL! , is a direct anchor to the image portrayed. Use of the phrase RIHANNA REWRITES THE RULES is firstly the only text that is outside of the coordinated colour palette to bring alert to a revolutionary event of some sort...

Intertextuality Research In this Intertextuality research task I will be looking at how a range of media products in the category of 'magazines' use intertextuality to appeal to a wide range of audiences. I will also be highlighting what makes these references to other media texts effective. -' ex machina' film released in 2015 in the United Kingdom - GQ Magazine featuring (fashion model) Cara Delevingne (from the United Kingdom) released in 2017 - Plot of 'ex machina' - a young male programmer, gets a chance to become a part of a strange scientific experiment where he is expected to assess artificial intelligence by interacting with a female robot. Robot seems to expresses a desire to experience the outside world . - women today are often treated like machines through the experience of societal pressure- through having the weight of the households maintenance, the pressure to sustain the family as well as the rising pressure...

In this post I’m going to be researching the genre for my chosen brief, this is in order to highlight the codes and conventions used in a similar product and apply them to mine to help produce an effective media product of my own. The genre of my chosen brief is a current affairs magazine, particularly focusing on the identity of today's youth, in which I will be looking at three different magazines of this similar genre. - bold red border contrast to the soft blue interior- possible symbolism of today's generation- alarming on the outside but on the inside they are nurturing and gentle and this aspect of them may be the reason 'why they'll save us all' - specifically from the current issues that society faces today e.g. racial/gender/sexual orientation injustice as well a the global issues we face e.g. climate change- despite the fact they're 'lazy, entitled narcissists' according to this magazine. - anchor image to the heading- - text populates major...
