Brief chosen:  Magazines and online ………………………………………………………………………………………………………… How do you intend to use the four areas of the media theoretical framework to communicate meaning and meet the requirements of your chosen brief? (approx. 400 words) Product 1

My intentions are to create a front cover and contents page for the first two editions of a current affairs magazine being launched by Dennis, as well as a working website to help promote the product. In order to meet the requirements of the chosen brief I will use the four areas of the media theoretical framework (representation, language, industries, and audiences) that will contribute to the communication of meaning. For the first edition, I will be using a young man sitting in a slouched position with his eyes covered by a mask on the front cover, that of which will be photographed in a Mid-Shot in order to capture a clear meaning. The mask over the eyes is a reference to the current pandemic in which masks are used to prevent the inhalation of the virus, similarly the mask over the eyes is to protect this current generation from viewing/consuming the images on social media  that influences them to be overly concerned with their image and narcissistic. The red colour overlay is to further connote danger and warning of the issue.

For the second edition, I will be using two young people (male and female) with their fists in the air, which is a recognized symbol of black power as well as an alliance. This demonstrates the revolutionary and the courageous spirit that is found in all young people, especially when concerning social issues. This will specifically be in light of the current Black Lives Matter social events of 2020. Both editions will follow a common house style of an upside-down masthead, which would cause the reader to read it from a different ‘PERSPECTIVE’; a faded camera shutter in the center of each the image, to anchor to the slogan ‘capturing innovation’, as well as the websites key background image; a logo which further anchors to this as it will be the image of a camera, and finally the signature hashtag, #GENERATIONRECONSTRUCTION. The hashtag directs the reader to the website for more information on it as well as the magazine's social media platforms, in which the intended demographic can engage with us. This is all aimed to directly appeal that a socially conscious group of 16-25 y/o, that is a mid to upper market demographic, the magazine provides the reader with information on current events/issues that mostly affect and are supported by this demographic.

……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………. CCS438 – Statement of Intent CCS/H409 Oxford Cambridge and RSA Examinations How do you intend to link your media products to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of the digitally convergent nature of your media production? (approx. 100 words)

I intend to demonstrate my knowledge and understanding of the digitally convergent nature of my media production through the hashtag presented on both front covers and the QR codes on both contents pages. The hashtag directs the reader to the website for more information and both the QR code and the hashtag direct the readers to the magazine's social media platforms, in which they can engage with us. To further demonstrate convergence, on the website's home page will be tweets by the readers as a display of their interaction of the topics and to ultimately encourage engagement.
